Part P - Making Safety the Standard

Part P of the Building Regulations was introduced in January, 2005, with the aim of reducing the number of incidents caused by faulty electrical installations.

It also introduced self-certification schemes such as the NICEIC to vigorously assess contractors, to ensure the work you require is completed by a fully competent person, thus helping to weed out poor quality tradesmen who may leave your electrical installations in an unsafe condition.

The NICEIC  works closely with its members to ensure the correct processes are adhered to under Part P. Although most accidents in the home are linked to electrical faults or misuse of equipment, there remain a high number of occurrences linked to poor workmanship or DIY, which is why householders should always use a registered contractor to undertake electrical work in the home.
